Position: Technical Writer
Location: Clifton Forge, VA
Duration: 1+ Year
Interview: In-Person
***candidates local to the Clifton Forge, VA area are strongly preferred. Clifton Forge is in far western VA, almost WVA
***ALL candidates MUST be able to attend a personal interview in Clifton Forge, VA, NO phone interviews, NO Skype, NO exceptions
***ALL work is to be performed onsite in Clifton Forge, VA
This position will work with the developers and system engineers to update/confirm system design documentation to reflect the as-built condition of the current systems including documenting project code as well as providing documentation
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Experience composing technical documents including User's Manuals, design documents, flow charts, training materials, installation guides, proposals and reports.
- Experience conducting research and ensuring the use of proper technical terminology.
- Experience editing functional descriptions, system specifications, and user's manuals.
- Experience organizing material and completing writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, conciseness, style, and terminology.
- Working with developer and system engineering staff (up to 6 staff) to obtain the understanding and information needed to complete the documentation.
- Required Skills:
- Minimum 3 years experience as a Technical Writer.
- BS Degree (CS, IS, Eng, Business, technical discipline) or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- Experience documenting transactional software, user interfaces and databases.
- Technology:
- Ideally will have some familiarity with web development, HTML; JavaScript; ASP.NET; Java; VB.NET, SQL databases, networks and server configuration.
